The Organizing Committee for the Panhellenic Truffle Festival, which will take place in Kalambaka from 10-13 October 2024, has been formed. Mr. Lefteris Lazarou, the well-known, awarded chef and owner of the awarded restaurant “Varoulko”, was appointed as the President of the Committee.
Mr. Lazarou gladly accepted the joint proposal of the Municipality of Meteora and the Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum. He is participating in it pro bono, thus contributing with his experience, authority, and credibility to its success.
Also, the same committee will be responsible for the promotion and establishment in practice of Kalambaka as the “City of Truffles”, through initiatives that will be taken, with the Festival being the first of these.
In addition to the President of the Committee, the Municipality of Meteora, with three deputy mayors, the Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum, which will be responsible for coordination, as well as local institutions (hotels, restaurants, chamber of commerce, etc.), and citizens, depending on the actions that each time will prefer.
At this point, it should be stressed the great responsibility and energy with which the Municipality and personally the Mayor, Mr. Lefteris Avramopoulos, is participating in the whole process, which not only honors him, but also anticipates its success. We are confident that after the great success of last year’s 1st Panhellenic Truffle Festival, which was awarded a gold award at the largest Greek awards institution, the Tourism Awards 2024, this year’s festival will follow the same path.
In the coming days, the committee will hold its first meeting.
