An exceptional festival-15.000 visitors, 50 chefs, 20.000 portions of food

The success of the 2nd Panhellenic Truffle Festival, which took place in Kalambaka from the 10th to the 13th of October 2024, exceeded all expectations. An unprecedented turnout, thousands of portions of food and sweets made by dozens of chefs, seminars on truffles, events for children, music bands, traditional dances, and awards for prominent gastronomy personalities were the festival’s main features, which no precedent in the region.

The Festival was organized by the Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum in cooperation with the Municipality of Meteora and had the support of the Region of Thessaly, but also numerous sponsors and volunteers, without whose support it would have been impossible to realize. President of the Organizing Committee for the Panhellenic Truffle Festival was the well-known top chef, Mr. Lefteris Lazarou. To note that everything was FREE for the guests.

But let’s look at some numbers that show the magnitude of the effort, but also the success. So, during the four days:

– more than 15.000 visitors passed by

– 15,15,000 visitors came to the event – 4 seminars on truffles were held

– Around 15,15 truffles were presented to 15,000 people – around 200 volunteers participated.

– There were 61 sponsors of the festival

– more than 50 chefs cooked for the guests.

– 13(!) different kinds of truffle and mushroom dishes were prepared

– more than 20.000 rations were distributed

– more than 8,000 truffle spread bread rolls were distributed

– about 5,000 mushroom pies were distributed

– about 10,000 pieces of fruit were distributed

– about 17 000 four kinds of truffle and mushroom desserts were distributed

– about 5 000 sodas and soft drinks were consumed

– about 4,000 bottles of waters were consumed

– about 200 bottles of wine were consumed

– approximately 100 bottles of tsipouro consumed
