The Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum organizes the 1st Panhellenic Truffle Festival in Kalambaka, 8-11 June 2023. It is supported by the Municipality of Meteora and the Region of Thessaly and is part of the designation of Kalambaka as the “City of Truffles”.
During the event, special emphasis is placed on introducing people to truffles. Leading experts, including the renowned Greek chef Lefteris Lazarou, will highlight topics such as the cultivation of truffles, their nutritional value, their cooking, the truffle dogs’ training, etc.
The highlight of the celebration is Saturday, the 10th of June, when about 30 chefs will cook for free several kinds of truffle dishes for thousands of visitors, while sweets, refreshments, etc. will also be given to people for free, at Riga Feraiou Square in Kalambaka,
During the Festival, a variety of activities for children, as well as a rich artistic program will take place daily, which will also be free of charge.
Based on the attendance of people at previous Mushroom Festivals held in the city, a very large turnout of visitors is expected. Moreover, we should not forget that the interest in truffles is constantly growing and this Festival, in combination with the Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum, is the right place for information and tasting.
Finally, we would like to note that as such a big event requires a large participation of human resources, the Museum invites those who want to help voluntarily during the days of the Festival, to do so by phone: 2432024959 or by email: info@meteoramuseum.gr
